Renting a return ticket: how does a temporary flight reservation with PNR work?

“Rent a plane ticket” is a popular phrase, but technically misleading. In a transparent service, you do not rent a seat and you do not receive a ticket to travel. You generally order the creation of a temporary reservation in your name.

What the service should provide

A serious temporary reservation may include:

It does not necessarily include an e-ticket number. Without emissions, it does not allow you to board the indicated route.

Why do we talk about “rental”?

The word comes from the temporary nature of the file: the traveler pays for a creation and provision service, then the reservation expires or is canceled. He does not recover a security deposit or become the owner of a ticket.

How does the order work?

1. You indicate your route

Choose a departure, a destination, a date compatible with your stay and the number of travelers. The next destination must be accessible and consistent.

2. The supplier creates a file

The information is transmitted to the booking system or partner. A nominative file is created when a suitable route is available.

3. You receive the document

Immediately check the name, airports, date, segments and reference. Keep the file offline.

4. The reservation remains temporary

Its duration depends on the system, the company and the supplier's conditions. An announced duration must remain a conservative estimate if the final control escapes the service.

How to distinguish a real service from a fake generator?

Avoid services that:

• ask you to modify a model yourself;
• promise a usable ticket without explaining the issue;
• never distinguish between PNR and e-ticket;
• do not indicate any policy in the event of a reservation not found;
• guarantee entry into a country.

Instead, look for a business identity, support, a clear policy, an accurate product description and a verification method.

When to order?

A temporary reservation must be active at the time it can be checked. Ordering it much too early increases the risk that it will expire before departure. Ordering it at the last minute increases the risk of delay or uncorrected error.

Choose a window consistent with the delivery time and duration announced by the service.
